Teeth Whitening

What herbal whitening services does Holistic Dentists offer?

To address permanent tooth stains, Dr. Gross offers herbal at-home teeth whitening treatments, which are more affordable and cause less tooth sensitivity than other whitening systems.

For home whitening, patients are provided a customized whitening kit, complete with everything they need to whiten at home. At your first appointment, Dr. Gross will custom fit bleaching trays to snugly cover your teeth. These trays will hold our Holistic Herbal whitening gel against your teeth and keep saliva from diluting the solution.

We will give you the gel and instructions on how to maximize your teeth whitening efforts. You may choose to whiten your teeth twice a day or overnight for a couple of weeks.  If you have any questions about the whitening regimen that is right for you, Dr. Gross will be happy to give you advice so that you can make informed decisions.

How is Holistic whitening different from over-the-counter whitening systems?

For many people, whitening products from supermarkets and drug stores rarely prove effective and might be dangerous to ingest. Over-the-counter whitening systems are also one-size-fits-all, so strips may not adequately attach to your teeth, and gels or paint-on bleaching systems may not prove effective.

As a cosmetic dentist, Dr. Lewis Gross offers an herbal holistic teeth whitening system that delivers noticeable and lasting results. Our at-home whitening treatment reaches beyond surface stains to penetrate even the most stubborn discoloration.

What causes my teeth to stain?

Permanent stains may be caused by the natural aging process or from the foods and drinks we consume. Coffee, tea, and wine are major culprits for extrinsic tooth stains, but other factors, such as medication or tobacco use, can darken porous tooth enamel. Fluorosis, a condition caused by ingesting too much fluoride during childhood, causes intrinsic stains that appear as white, horizontal lines on teeth. Our teeth-whitening system addresses extrinsic stains. To correct intrinsic stains, bonding or veneers may be advised.

How do I maintain my results from professional whitening?

Tooth bleaching results are not permanent, but you can re-treat your teeth when you notice discoloration return. Regular brushing and flossing can help reduce staining; however, even a good daily hygiene routine cannot prevent some stains from coming back over time. If you want to deter stains, reduce the contributing factors: coffee, tea, dark foods, tobacco, and wine, and re-treat your teeth with your home whitening kit as needed.
